Joukje graduated in 2019 in England, completing the master Religion, Politics & Society. After having mostly focused on the causes and issues arising with the refugee crisis it was time to focus on the solutions instead. During her studies it became clear that trying to effect change through politics would be way too slow, and consequently she joined The Present.

Joukje works as Co-Director for The Present; which ranges from organising events to community management, administration to planning, maintaining the website and social channels - and everything that falls in between.
