Jur Jacobs

Present Mover

Jur Jacobs is a farmer, entrepreneur and sets up projects around food and people. Jur's interest and expertise lies in poverty, food and especially the connection between them. From a sustainable foodbox to social fish company Buurvissen.

At the moment he is working on the initiative De Seizoenarbeiders to close the gap between farmesr and citizens. Young people who have no work because of the corona crisis can work for farmers. He also dumped thousands of kilos of French fries potatoes in various cities in the Netherlands to save them from destruction under the heading "Top of the Potato Mountain."

The essence of these projects lies in the fact that they make complicated questions and problems understandable in a fun and light way, and therefore actually get people thinking. There is a gap between farmers and citizens, between rich and poor and whether or not there is access to good food. In this polarizing world, Jur works to bring more nuance to this debate.

Many of his projects are unpaid and that is why Jur set up 'De Goede Doener', as his own interpretation of a basic income.

Currently Jur puts his entrepreneurial and creative mind to use as our project manager for seepeople and The Present 100.
