Entrepreneur Adriaan Kok is the mind behind Connect By Music, an organisation that aids refugee children in dealing with their traumas through music. Where they once started with a little music school in camp Kara Tepe on Lesbos, they are now active at multiple locations throughout Greece.

In 2016, when Lesbos was constantly in the news, Adriaan and violin player Jeroen de Groot travelled to the island. They were immediately convinced that refugees could positively benefit from music classes. Upon his return home, Adriaan was ‘broken and confused for two weeks’. Shortly after he founded Connect by Music.

Adriaan can often be found on Lesbos to keep things rolling, and his wife and children join every once in a while to help. He attended and spoke at one of our special meetups, in harp player Lavinia Meijer’s living room. You can read about this meet up here.
